(Patriot Insider) – During his time on the campaign trail in 2020, Joe Biden made a promise that his one-time rival, the nutty Beto O’Rourke, would be the go-to guy when it came to developing his gun control policies. As it stands right now, O’Rourke has not been given an official spot in the administration, but the House did go forward and launch the president’s anti-gun agenda.
According to WND, the promise from Biden to O’Rourke about making him his right hand man on the topic of gun control took place at a rally that was held in the city of Dallas.
“You’re going to take care of the gun problem with me. You’re gonna be the one who leads this effort,” Biden had said.
O’Rourke himself had previously vowed, “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47,” proving he doesn’t understand guns or the second amendment.
Well, the House has officially approved a new demand for a universal background check on every gun purchase, including ones that are sold by private sellers. HR 8, known as the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2021, has been sponsored by Democratic Reps. Mike Thompson and Rep. Lucy McBath.
The vote to pass the measure was 227-203, mostly split along party lines. If this passes the Senate, it will require federal background checks on any firearm purchase. McBath went on to call the bill “an historic step.”
The GOP is opposed to the bill due to the fact it is a clear violation of the Second Amendment, which the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land, has already affirmed allows individual citizens to keep and carry weapons.
“Democrats in Washington, D.C. are trying to infringe upon your Second Amendment as we speak,” Florida Republican Rep. Byron Donalds warned the citizens of our great country. “I will always stand up for law-abiding citizens’ right to keep and bear arms because I know gun laws only impact law-abiding citizens, not criminals.”
The future of the bill is still in doubt in the almost evenly split Senate. Democrats need to have a total of 60 votes in favor of the legislation in order for it to pass, unless they utilize the “nuclear option,” eliminating the filibuster.
“It is simply not true that communities plagued by crime will be made safer by imposing new restrictions on law abiding citizens. In fact, some of the cities with the strictest laws of this type are also beset by the highest crime rates,” Rep. Darrell Issa said.
“Rather, radical moves to defund police, enact zero cost bail, impose lax sentences, eliminate ICE, and create ‘no arrest’ policies for certain crimes have the most dangerous consequences. If legislators want to reduce crime and make communities safer, our time would be better spent working to end each of these ill-advised measures – and prevent their destructive results,” he added.
At the end of the day, this is just one more step toward a complete ban and confiscation of firearms, a total repealing of the Second Amendment, which the left is chomping at the bit to achieve. It’s much easier to be a totalitarian socialist country when you don’t have to worry about the citizens forming an armed uprising.
What’s really despicable about the passing of HR 8 in the House is that a total of 8 so-called Republicans voted in favor of it. Here’s a list of those who decided to sell out conservative values and join with the left in violating our God-given right to own a weapon for self-defense of life, liberty, and property:
-Vern Buchanan (FL)
-Brian Fitzpatrick (PA)
-Maria Salazar (FL)
-Andrew Garbarino (NY)
-Chris Smith (NJ)
-Fred Upton (MI)
-Carlos Gimenez (FL)
-Adam Kinzinger (IL)
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi went on to make the claim that the vast majority of American people “overwhelmingly” support this gun-control legislation. Yeah, that’s not correct. If it were, then gun purchases wouldn’t be going through the roof right now.
“There is nobody in Congress whose political survival is more important than the survival of our children. We think this should be bipartisan to Congress, as it is in the country. Overwhelmingly, there is broad support for background checks legislation, so we hope with the big strong bipartisan vote we have today to send it over the Senate, the drumbeat across America, that the change will come,” Pelosi said, adding, “This legislation…will save lives.”
If gun control saves lives, why are there so many shooting deaths in the city of Chicago, which just happens to have some of the most strict gun control measures in the country? Maybe it’s because bad guys don’t get guns from gun shops? They don’t obey the law, which makes sense, seeing as they are criminals.
